What’s the best way to contact The Clapham Grand?

Our office opening hours are Mon-Sat 9am until 5:30pm.

You can call us on 0207 223 6523 or email us via info@claphamgrand.com

You can also contact us via the Contact Form on our website HERE

If your query is regarding tickets, we may sometimes redirect you to the ticketing platform or promoter of the event, if we are unable to help.

Is there a dress code?

Our dress code is fashionably comfortable, so smart trainers are allowed as long as they’re not muddy from running round the football pitch all day!

Wear open toe shoes at your own risk, apart from flip flops and sliders… they’re a no from us, thanks!

Hats are absolutely allowed (bowlers, top hats or the odd fez), but you may be asked to remove or turn a peaked cap around, again for safety and CCTV purposes.

Hen or Stag do attire is fine but keep it fun, keep it classy and not too tacky (leave the inflatable penises at home please!)

Tailored shorts are allowed like a jean or a nice chino, but we do not allow sports shorts.

Sometimes, we’ll host a specific event where there are specific dress codes – though this will be made clear on the event.

We are absolutely aware that attire can be a fabulous form of expression so if you have any qualms or queries, feel free to give us a shout on info@claphamgrand.com or 02072236523 for a chat (or some friendly fashion advice)

What is your ID scanning policy?
For entry to our venue (for various 18+ events and club nights) we will require you to show a form of physical valid photo ID. We accept valid passports, driving licenses, citizens cards or home office approved proof of age card are accepted as valid forms of ID.
Physical photo ID is a requirement for entry to ALL Boxing Events & Club Nights at The Clapham Grand. Entry will be refused without it –
If in the event that you do not have any of the above, don’t panic, just contact us prior to the event so we can help you!

Student cards are not accepted. If you are lucky enough to look under 25 you will be asked for a second form of ID with your name on it, to confirm the photographic ID belongs to you.
For our club nights, boxing events and sports screenings, we are required to use SCAN NET. This is to help us achieve our aim of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for customers, where only those people who are admitted are of legal age and are unlikely to interrupt other customer’s enjoyment.
For more information on the SCAN NET ID SYSTEM and how your data is managed please read below.
By allowing us to SCAN NET your ID you agree to the following:
1. Permission to use your information for marketing, this mean the venue may send you mailed invitations to events at this venue.
If you do not wish to receive marketing information you can be removed from our marketing list at any time. Ask a member of management or email us at info@claphamgrand.com to be removed.
2. That we can share your information with other venues should you be banned from this venue or through Pubwatch or The After Clubbing at Night Network (SCAN NET)
3. That we can share this information with police and local authorities in the event of an incident.
Do you have parking?

Unfortunately when they built the venue in 1900, a car park wasn’t top of the priority list, and we advise everyone to use public transport where possible.

The area around The Grand is residential parking only. There is a secure car park underneath Clapham Junction station, where you can pay to park using the website JustPark.com which is the best value in the local area.

We do advise against driving to us due to the lack of nearby parking, but of course it can often be unavoidable. All we ask is that you please avoid parking on Severus Road out of respect lovely neighbours  as this is a residential street.

Do you have a cloakroom?

Hell yeah! Voted best cloakroom in London thank you very much! (Sure, voted by us but still…)  You’ll be met with images of iconic cloaks and capes, and of course the marvellous Julia who has been running the cloakroom at The Grand for 18 years.

The cloakroom is £2.50 per item or £3 for club nights, and is limited to 1 item per hanger. (We will however turn a blind eye to the odd scarf being stuffed in a bag or the occasional sleeve #costoflivingcrisis)

Items cannot be returned without producing a valid ticket. If you think you are likely to lose your ticket (we’ve all been there), please take a picture of it. If you lose your ticket we may release your items at the end of the night, at the discretion of the management on the basis you know your items well enough to adequately describe them.

The Clapham Grand does not accept or take responsibility for items of value stored within your garments or bags deposited in the cloakroom, please keep valuable items on you. However if for any reason you have a ticket but we are unable to return an item left in the cloakroom, compensation is limited to a maximum of £50.00.

Although we do our very best to return left items, our responsibility ceases at the end of the night, on the day of your visit. We keep all lost property for 3 weeks, before donating it to Wandsworth Oasis, a local charity that raises money for HIV support and prevention projects in SW London through its nine charity shops and community events.

Can you take payments over the phone for tickets?

Unfortunately, we do not run an in-house box office. Tickets can only be purchased via the platform they are being sold on, for majority of our shows, it will be the platform DICE.

If you are having problems purchasing tickets, please email us via info@claphamgrand.com or call us on 02072236523 and let us know what you’re specific issue is. We will try our best to help you and redirect you, if needed.

If it’s a problem on DICE, the best email is help@dice.fm

What is your refund policy with tickets?

We do not cancel, exchange, refund or transfer tickets unless the event has been either cancelled or rescheduled. Our main ticket provider is DICE, who run our ticketing for us – as we do not have an in-house box office. In some cases, it will be best to approach them directly. Here’s some useful information below:

If you bought via DICE:

We can refund your ticket if…

  1. The event is cancelled or rescheduled,
  2. You decide to offer your ticket up to the Waiting List, and another fan purchases it. Please note that this feature isn’t turned on for all events. If the Waitlist is not available, it most likely means that the event is not sold out and therefore the Waiting List is not yet active.
  3. The best contact for DICE is help@dice.fm or via the app.

If you bought via other platforms:

We can refund your ticket if…

  1. The event is cancelled or rescheduled,
  2. Some platforms will offer ticket insurance at purchase, which is separate from The Clapham Grand – this may cover a refund for more than just cancellation or reschedule. If this applies to you, please contact the ticket provider seperately

If you bought via other platforms that The Clapham Grand are not running:

  • You will need to contact the ticket provider or promoter separately.
Is there an age restriction?

Unless specified on an event listing, The Clapham Grand is an 18+ venue.

We will always specify on the event’s listing when this is not the case.

Ticket holders will not be admitted to an event or receive a refund if unable to present valid identification showing they are over the required age limit for the show they are attending.

Only a current passport, driving license, citizen card or home office approved proof of age card are accepted as valid forms of ID. Student cards are not accepted. If you are under 25 you will be asked for a second form of ID with your name on it, to confirm the photographic ID belongs to you.

I can’t make it for the door time, can I still come in?

While this is often down to the discretion of individual promotors,  for most of our shows late entry is absolutely fine. This is with the exception of Bongo’s Bingo (last entry at 7:30pm)  and club nights (last entry at 1am)

We know unexpected things can get in the way, but if you have prior knowledge of being late then we would greatly appreciate you letting us know whenever you can!

What do I do regarding lost property?

Please call the venue on 020 7223 6523 from 9am – 5:30pm, Monday – Saturday or e-mail info@claphamgrand.com with a description of your item, when/where you left it at the venue and/or your cloakroom ticket number.

We keep all lost property for 3 weeks, before donating it to Wandsworth Oasis, a local charity that raises money for HIV support and prevention projects in SW London through its 9 charity shops and community events.

Do you allow photography inside the venue?

We allow small consumer-type cameras into The Grand, but not professional SLR-type ones. Unfortunately we cannot issue photopasses or grant access to the photopit as this is done directly by the promoter for each event.

Depending on the show, they may be a full photography/filming ban inside the venue, during the performance.

I have access queries – what should I do before visiting The Clapham Grand?

You can find a more in-detail page on Accessibility HERE

For access customers (Blue Badge holders, Access card holders, etc.) who require a PA to come with them to an event – we are able to provide a complimentary ticket for the PA (availability depending).

Before purchasing any tickets, best practice is to email info@claphamgrand.com with an enquiry or call us on 020 7223 6523. When chatting to a member of our lovely team, you may be asked for proof of eligibility before being issued with a code. We realise this is inconvenient for you to have to present this with each ticket purchase, however it is to ensure that the PA ticket is not being taken advantage of by those who do not need one.

Tickets for shows here can be sold across multiple platforms so speaking to us in advance is always advised to avoid any confusion.

Regarding Access Dogs and Emotional Support Animals – We love dogs… But unfortunately not all the time. We can allow emotional support animals into the venue, but not for certain events (i.e. club nights etc). We also of course allow guide dogs and other canine companions that are validated by a blue badge, but please do call us ahead so we can allocate you a seat in an animal friendly part of the venue and get the dog bowl ready #wedontleavenodogthirsty.

What do I need to do if I have to bring medicine with me?

If you need to bring any medicines, food or drink to manage a medical condition, or medical equipment you are of course welcome to do so. We don’t have any medical equipment at the venue past what is required by law.

For all our seated events, we do have delicious food from Hot Beige (Hot Dogs, Vegan Hot Dogs, Nachos etc). In the event that Hot Beige is not with us, we will have a selection of snacks for you should you need.

Please inform the manager on duty when you arrive before going through search. You can also email us ahead of the event at info@claphamgrand.com.

How do I hire The Clapham Grand for a show or private event?

You can find all the information you need HERE on our Private Hire Page.

Regarding Show Hires: For further enquiries, best practice is to email info@claphamgrand.com with as much information as possible. Include your company information, relevant links to past shows, dates you may be looking at, information about the show you want to put on, sale expectations, etc. We’ll then be able to pass this onto the booking team who will get back to you if we are able to help.

What should I expect when visiting The Clapham Grand?

First off, some hilarious and silly signage everywhere, fabulous customer service, good food, good vibes  and an incredible show!

Please note there may be strobes, flashing lights, loud noises, confetti, the occasional balloon drop and other fun stuff used in the venue, on a regular basis.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding this for a specific event don’t hesitate to contact us via info@claphamgrand.com or call us on 020 7223 6523. We want to make sure you have a safe experience with us!

What’s the seating situation?

For our seated shows, we have a variety of different layouts. The venue is run like a variety house (similar to an Edinburgh Fringe Venue) by which we mean there’s something completely different on every day!

This means that we do not do allocated seating. Some shows will be specific to a certain level of the venue  which will be the stalls (ground floor) Circle  (balcony) or Upper Circle (the Gods/Heaven/up 5 flights of stairs) but majority will work on a first-come-first-served basis.

If there are specific box or table tickets on sale, they will be allocated. You will have a lovely reservation sign with your name on it when you arrive. Please arrive promptly as you may lose your table if the show starts and you’re not here! We will hold your space until the interval of a show, but from that point it may be used to upgrade some lucky ducks.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via info@claphamgrand.com

What is your Covid-19 Policy?

From the 27th January 2022, the UK Government will remove any COVID-related requirements for large-scale events and gatherings, by law.

From then on, face masks will no longer be mandatory, though still recommended in inside spaces where you are in close proximity to other, and we will no longer be asking for  proof of vaccination of a negative test.

See below our quick guide to having the safest time possible with us! If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@claphamgrand.com

We look forward to seeing you soon! ✨

THE CLAPHAM GRAND’S RECOMMENDED CUSTOMER GUIDELINES TO VISITING

1. Please don’t come to shows here if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, or believe you may have been exposed to infection ⛔️

2. Before coming to one of our events, we recommend that you do everything you can to make sure that you, personally, are not infectious 🤒

You can do this by:

– Getting vaccinated / boosted  💉

– Taking a lateral flow test 📝

– Registering that you are immune (because of previous infection) ✅

3. Unfortunately, due to the listed status of the building, we haven’t been able to fit in a full ventilation system, but we will, whenever possible, keep the doors of the venue open during the gaps between performances, which will enable to air to circulate and reduce both aerosol and droplet risk. During performances, we may have to close certain doors to comply with noise restrictions. 💨

4. We will be deep cleaning the building regularly, and we will be using contact cleaning solutions which reduce the risk of contact infections. There will be additional sanitising units around the building, and we ask you to please play your part in keeping the building clean from contact risk by regularly washing your hands and using the sanitisers provided. 🧹

Where can I send feedback?

We’re always keen to hear your ideas and suggestions, and welcome any feedback you have.

If you enjoyed your experience with us, or if we didn’t reach your expectations for any reason please let us know with a message to info@claphamgrand.com or 020 72236523 and we will do all we can to resolve the situation.

There’s a ‘Restoration Levy’ charge on my ticket. What is this?

The Clapham Grand has been providing entertainment for over 120 years, and is one of the UK’s oldest remaining Variety Halls. After a successful Crowdfunder campaign to prevent permanent closure during Covid-19 we are thrilled to be back open hosting a range of incredible events, which after operating at a loss gave us the chance to bring our staff back to work, rebuild our business model and most of all have you back to be entertained here once again.

During this period of loss making trading during & immediately after Covid-19, we are implementing a £1 restoration fee on each ticket, which goes towards helping us maintain our beautiful venue which due to its age (not old, vintage.) is in a constant state of repair.
