The play by Ivan Kotlyarevsky was written more than 200 years ago. Since then, Natalka Poltavka has become a true classic of the Ukrainian theater scene. The rich coachman Tetervakovsky woos the beautiful, working, but poor Natalka. Natalka gives him a break, but Vozny, plotting, turns to Makogonenko for help. It is he who must assure Natalka’s mother that marriage with the rich and elderly Vozny is a good match for a poor girl. Submitting to her mother’s will, Natalka agrees to marry him.
